About us
The company Ingesta® is a dietetics and nutrition company led by Sabine Hilliger, dietitian-nutritionist. Born in Paris and an amateur chef, in 2015, she chose a career change to nutrition in Guadeloupe, French West Indies, to reconcile the pleasure of the table of exotic products from overseas with the scientific rigor of health. During her studies, she designed the Ingesta® dietary record, based on field experience. In 2016, during an internship at the Capesterre Belle Eau Hospital Center (CHCBE), the head of care, Mrs. M.-T. Maslankiewicz, tasked her with designing a questionnaire to assess the food consumption of patients. The form, based on the reference framework of the Study Group of Markets in Collective Catering and Nutrition (GEMRCN), was intended to be simple, with mainly boxes to tick. The multidisciplinary team nevertheless identified two problems. Some patients could be hindered by difficulties in reading, writing or understanding French, while the nurses did not have the necessary time to help them fill in the questionnaire by hand.
Sabine HilligerSabine Hilliger then considered a simplified method of collecting food consumption, without imposing the keeping of a written diary. Photographs of meals and voice messages appeared as the appropriate response, easy to integrate into everyday life, making it possible to create a dietary record while keeping a visual record of the meals and drinks consumed. This is how Ingesta® was born: the solution to make the dietary record simpler, more accessible and closer to everyday life.
In 2018, she created a first list of approximately 1000 foods based on the SU.VI.MAX. directory, enriched with the photo guide for quantity estimation from IREPS Martinique, in order to include tropical foods. Then, she progressively cross-referenced multiple international nutritional composition databases (Ciqual, EuroFIR, FNDDS, SR Legacy, USDA-GBFP, INCAP, FAO-Latin Foods and others). In 2020 she integrated the ANSES and EFSA reference values into the algorithmic engine to produce indicators according to age, sex, height and physiological situation. In 2023, she founded her Nutrition Committee, recognized as being of general interest, to carry out nutritional studies from the new dietary record. She then deployed it among hundreds of beneficiaries, in close collaboration with a team of doctors at the Fiona Medical Center thanks to Dr Nicolas Randon. Since 2024, she has been sharing her research and the advances of the device in the scientific publication ACTA Ingesta® (ISSN: 3076-2650).
In 2026, she created the company INGESTA® in order to be able to offer consultations to patients and carry out nutritional assessments.
